Blightmare

Your heart wrapped around mine,
your love,
– as extravagant as the mantle of King Louis –
joyfully,
gushing out of Notre-Dame’s gargoyles,
flooded the fair city of lights.
Tip-toeing on the Seine River, we crossed over to the other bank,
where bliss met despair,
when, for a lone second, I let go of your hand.
